There are plenty of people we know on a name basis which we don’t take the time to get to know on a deeper level. You don’t know how much a part of cultural history the person next to you has partaken in until you break the ice and delve into that deeper understanding.
In the case of one Justyn Tyme, the ice breaker came in a pair of sneakers and the fact that we’re both DJs. Walking into an interview unprepared, as I try my best not to be, I was surprised to learn that Justin was a part of the first Hip-Hop station in it’s history and a majority of the music programming that influenced me to be a DJ. Namely, MTV; where Justin played a big role in programming. Fast forward 7 years ahead and the man who once DJed with DJ Khaled before his prime broke the break dancer out of a couple of the people in attendance at Snique Peek Thursday. I had a chance to chop it up with Justyn after his set and learned how many sneakers he actually amassed in his closet…

SP Live 7.21//Pardon the mistakes but this was a live, unedited mix. Either way, it was another great Snique Peek Thursday after DJ Justyn Tyme came through and threw down a set with DJ Nique and hurryupnbuy. The B-Boys were breakin and the people were shaking. If you missed it, heres some clips from the live sets of the night.

In the life of a DJ, there are many indicators in the status of your journey. From the day you unwrap your first record to the day you make a crowd move to your selections. Every DJ reaches the moment where they realize what they’re doing is affecting the world.
For DJ Tiger, DJing has given him the opportunity to visit and share music with a majority of the country by way of touring. Staying in the best hotels and sometimes living room floors, Tiger has played multiple cities as Das EFX and Deuce Ellis’ tour DJ. Coming from the humble beginnings of a kid getting his feet wet playing at a skating rink, the revelations coming from his recent adventures in life have proven to be quite interesting. I caught up with Tiger a couple days after his set at Snique Peek Thursdays and was amazed at his crazy tour stories…

We’re back at it again, beat the heat with 2 for 1 margaritas and dope sounds…
